GIVING EXCLUSIVE MOTHER’S MILK FOR BABY 6 MONTH GROWTH IN
HEALTH CENTRE OF SALO, SUB-DISTRICT OF WATANG SAWITTO,
DISTRICT OF PINRANG 2013

Background : Growth is an indicator of the health of children, nutritional status and
genetic background, breast milk is a complex biological fluid containing all the nutrients
needed by the body. Its very easily absorbed by the body, making it the primary nutrients
that best meets the requirements for the growth and development of infants.
Purpose : To know relation giving exclusive mother’s milk for baby 6 month growth.
Method : Analytic observational study with cross sectional approach. The sample of this
study amounted to 73 babies, which are taken in non propability sampling (total sampling).
Data was collected through interviews and weigh in mothers of infants exclusively
breastfed history. Processing data using the computer program analysis with chi-square test
and Fisher’s exact test.
Result : The results of chi-square statistical test and Fisher’s exact test that showed
significant results (p <0.05), namely p value = 0.000 for weight loss while p = 0.008 for
nutritional status. This means that exclusive breastfeeding provides connection to the
growth of infants aged 6 months.
Conclusion : Have relation between exclusive mother’s milk for baby 6 month growth in
health centre of Salo, sub-district of Watang Sawitto, District of Pinrang 2013.
