ABSTRACT
BACKGROUND : Indonesia is the country with the highest cataract patients in Southeast Asia. According to the data, the number of cataract patients in Indonesia at 1.5 percent from the population. Data from The Eye Disease Prevalence Research Group (2004), estimated in 2020, the number of patients with eye diseases and blindness in the world will reach 55 million.

While currently, there are 45 million people with blindness in the world, 60 percent of which are in poor or developing countries.
PURPOSE : To determine whether there was an effect of knowledge to the medical treatment of cataract patients.
RESEARCH METHODOLOGY : This research is an observational analytic with cross sectional approach. The sample size in this study was 62 respondents cataract patient at the Pelamonia Hospitality. Data were collected by questionnaire. Analysis of the data using the Chi-square.
RESULTS : From the results obtained, a total of 24 cataract patients (64.9%) with a good level of knowledge has had a history of surgery. Results of the Chi-square analysis, there is a significant relationship (p <0.05) between knowledge of cataract patients with a history of operating with p = 0.011 and OR (odds ratio) = 3.923.
SUMMARY : There is a significant relationship between patient‟s knowledge to history of cataract surgery at Pelamonia Hospitality.
