ABSTRACT
Background : Nowadays, hypertension is still became a major factor, because of many reason, such as the higher level of hypertension prevalence, hypertension is multifactorial, both of the number of patient untreatment and the one with medicine but still with the unstabilize blood pleasure and also the presence of other illnesses and complication which can raises the morbidity and mortality


Objective : To know the prevalence of hypertension and its risk factor
Methods : This research is an observational analytic with cross sectional approach. There are 80 respondents taken from Pundata Baji area. The writer used non-probability sampling, specially the purposive sampling. The data were collected using questionnaire methods and physical assignment. The data were analysed using chi-square
Results : With the chi-square analysis, the prevalence of hypertension is 61,3% and there is a significant relationship between the family historical (p=0,000; OR=13,37; 95%CI=4,48-39,83), a salty meal consumption (p=0,000; OR-25.00; 95%CI=7,54-82,80) and obesity (p=0,000; OR=8,44; 95%CI=3,02-23,54). Age, sex, coffee consumption, alcohol consumption, smoking and physical activity had no significant correlation.
Conclusion : The prevalence of hypertension was still in a high level. Family historical, a salty meal consumption and obesity were the risk factors correlated to the hypertension and age, sex, coffee consumption, alcohol consumption, smoking and physical activity not a risk factors of hypertension.
