ABSTRACT
BACKGROUND : Maternal mortality rate (MMR) is one of the women’s health indicator. In
Indonesia, MMR still in a very high level incompare with another ASEAN country. To increase
the antenatal care, is one way to reduce MMR based on health’s department policy. The adequate
pregnancy examination was influenced by several factors, one of them is the pregnancy woman
knowledge about the pregnancy examination itself.


PURPOSE OF THE RESEARCH : Knowing the relationship about pregnancy woman
knowledge to the frequency of antenatal care.
RESEARCH METHODOLOGY : This research methodology is an observational analytic
with Cross Sectional approach. By using the Probability sampling specially the simple random
sampling to take the sample. There are 95 pregnancy woman respondents taken from the
Puskesmas Tamalate Makassar. The data were collected using questionnaire methods. Finally
the data were analysed using chi-square.
THE RESEARCH RESULT : From the research, there are 61 pregnancy woman (80,3%) had
the complete antenatal care with a good level knowledgement. Chi-square analysis showing that
there is a significant relationship (p<0,05) between pregnancy woman knowledge to the
frequency of antenatal care that equals to p = 0,001 and odds ratio (OR) = 0,179.
SUMMARY : There is a significant relationship between pregnancy woman knowledge to the
frequency of antenatal care at Puskesmas Tamalate Makassar.
